I was feeling very retro on this day, and wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather to photograph one of my favorite skirts. It's vintage, from Decades Boutique, and I love the way the neutral tones of brown, black, and cream compliment one another. I backcombed my hair into a huge bouffant, grabbed my vintage-inspired sunnies, and shot this on Historic C-Street.
I look so much like my mom in these pictures. She was very chic at my age, and wore a beehive and huge Jackie-O sunglasses in many of my baby pics. She was pretty much my inspiration for this outfit.
Photographers love our area - and it's easy to see why! Sun-baked brick and stucco walls make for beautiful backdrops. We have had an issue with people chalking buildings lately for photos, and unfortunately, chalk does not come off of antique brick. It soaks into the pores of the brick and is very difficult to remove. There were the remains of a chalked phrase just to my left in these pictures. It makes me sad - when it is just as easy to add fun phrases to your pics post-shoot with editing programs. Just a word to the wise when shooting in historic districts. :)
If you have a bit of a tummy, like me, and are fuller-busted, belting your outfit slightly above the natural waist at your narrowest point is the best option for not emphasizing bulges. :)

Ridiculously adorable as always. I need to shop for professional attire soon (my internship begins in just a few weeks). I'm definitely making a list of your recommendations. I do feel it's hard to find sweet pieces like this in my size...it will be a journey, I think!

It sure can be - vintage sizes are notoriously small. But if you are willing to look, they are definitely out there. Jina at Decades is really good at finding things for you that fit your measurements. If you go in and see her, she would be happy to help you start your journey. :)
